A
compression spring is an open-coil, helical spring that offers resistance to a linear
compressive force applied to the ends. They are usually coiled at a constant diameter
but they can also be coiled as a conical, barrel, or hourglass shape.

The ends of a compression spring can be open, open and ground, closed, and closed and

they can be wound left hand or right hand.
